First Grade is Hard at Work starting off strong in the Beginning of March! :)

Hi there my wonderful first-grade families! 🙂

Math: Homework is from and to be completed through their Into Math homework/practice book! It has been shared on ClassDojo what the math homework is for that night each day! Our morning work has been working through our Simple Solutions workbooks. We have been working hard throughout our module workbooks, and have been learning more and more about math. We have completed  Module 9 with Tens and Ones. We have started Module 10 and will finish it next week hopefully and then get right into Module 11! :))))))

****Please ensure your child is doing their homework each day as it has been more practice for what we have been working on, and it has been helping them with their OWN learning!

Wilson: We have been hard at work with our Wilson program. We have been finished through Unit 7, which was a longer unit! And we have started Unit 8! The students have been learning about suffixes, especially with the -s and focusing on more glued sounds. Also just starting talking about and beginning consonant blends! We have been building on that knowledge and learning about our base words and then how we can make them plural!  We have been talking about nouns and verbs, and building on that same knowledge! 🙂

Spelling: We will not be having a spelling test this coming week Friday due to not having school and it being a shortened week! 🙂

Social Studies/Science: This week, we focused once more again on talking about science. The students have been able to show their scientific knowledge while speaking, hoping it will build more and more especially at home! This week we talked more about Habitats–what a plant or animal need to live and survive.

We have been discussing every single day during morning meeting, the weather! We have been learning about the Scientific Method and what can/could happen! We have also started talking about Living versus Non-Living things!

We talked about plants and animals traits–along with adaptations! We also talked about oceans, lakes, and rivers–which will help build on social studies next week!

Religion: We have been hard at work learning about how we can be a follower of God and Jesus Christ. Which works out because we have been hard at work practicing for the prayer service of The Washing of the Feet!.

**We are in charge of the Prayer Service of Washing of the Feet. Please ensure that if your child has a speaking part that they are practicing and getting more comfortable with their speaking parts. Every single child is included in this Prayer Service. Remainder it is on April 2nd in the Church at 9:30 Am.

Reading: We have been noticing on how in stories–they do start with capital letters, finger spacing, and punctuation! We have been spending a lot more time working on writing to connect to what we have learned about during those said stories! This week, the favorite Story was How to Trap a Leprechaun. The students have been working on writing different kinds of writing each and every single day which has been just so much fun to see where their imagination begins and then flows onto the page!

We are also so still very grateful to continue to have Storytime with our volunteering librarian, Mrs. Flood, on Thursday’s as well! 🙂

We have been working EXTREMELY hard with our comprehension (remembering what is going on/happening throughout the story!) We have also been reading a book and then writing a story/a page about it!!! We also have started building on our prior knowledge of Main Idea and key details!

**Remember to keep filling out those reading logs! 🙂 They are due each Monday unless we do not have school so in that case, they would be due on Tuesdays! Thank you!!!!!! 🙂
