JK Newsletter Aug 30, 2024

We had a great full first week of school! We are still getting used to our classroom routine and learning our daily prayers and songs. We also met with our 7th grade Buddies on Wednesday, and attended 9:30 mass of the Holy Spirit with our Buddies today.

A few questions for your child:

  • Who was the line leader
  • Who was the prayer leader this week?
  • Who was the American flag holder?
  • Who was the caboose?

Religion: This week we talked about how God loves us and also how special our names are.  The children have been learning many classroom prayers.  They will be bringing home a prayer sheet with the 3 prayers we say each day.                                                                  *We will be starting 8am mass with our Buddies on September 10th.

Literacy: This week was all about recognizing our names,  alphabet letters and  reading Chicka Chicka Boom Boom! This next week we will start our Jolly phonics program and letter sounds for “S” and “a”.

Math: We do lots of counting in JK! We will practice number recognition and formation through poems and calendar time.

Social Studies/Science: We have been busy learning our social skills.  Please ask your child if they have had a chance to our a “warm and fuzzy”, in our classroom bucket?  Catching the children being kind and helpful gives them a chance to fill our classroom bucket of POSITIVITY!

A few reminders:

  • Please bring in a 4×6 family picture if you have not done so for our family board.
  • Wednesdays your children will bring home important papers from the school office. Please check your children’s backpack each night.
  • NO SCHOOL Monday September 2nd

Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
