Kindergarten DLI November Update

Dual Language Kindergarten Newsletter – November

Dear Families,

Happy November! We have officially wrapped up our Halloween fun and are excited to dive into our November themes of gratitude, turkeys, blessings, and giving thanks. The children have been learning, creating, and growing so much each day!

 Classroom Highlights

Students completed a special writing and art project titled “Yo no soy un pavo… yo soy…”. Thank you so much for helping your child complete this at home! The projects turned out AMAZING, and the students were so proud to share their work. We truly appreciate your support—these meaningful connections between home and school make a big difference.

We also worked on several fun turkey-themed art projects, including our classic handprint turkey. These projects will be coming home soon—keep an eye out!

Additionally, we had a very special opportunity to break bread with our traditional Kindergarten amigos in Mrs. Mahr’s class. We were invited to come together to share what and who we are thankful for, making it a meaningful and joyful experience for our students.

Literacy Update – Arriba la Lectura

We have officially begun working with Arriba la Lectura, which is part of our reading and vocabulary curriculum. The students are making great progress identifying High Frequency Words (HFW) within texts.

We have also started learning about parts of a story, including:

  • Main characters
  • Setting
  • Plot

It has been wonderful to see students apply these skills during read-alouds and class discussions!
