I hope all had a Happy Halloween-the students had a very fun party in MH yesterday. Thank you to all parents who volunteered or brought in items. We could not do these wonderful things without you. The students also spent the morning with their buddies coloring haunted houses that the eighth graders drew out from a guided video.
***I talked to the students today about starting to thinking about a saint they would like to be named after for Confirmation. Caroline Mhlay, the young women who recently passed away, chose Saint Gemma when she made her Confirmation here at St. Cletus. Unbelievably, St Gemma is the patron saint of spinal cord injuries and she also died at a very young age. Caroline and St Gemma will be in our prayers this school year.
Every student making their Confirmation this February will need to pick a saint. They will also need to pick a sponsor. Sponsors need to be 16 years old and a practicing Catholic. It should be someone close to them that can offer spiritual guidance. They students will be “renamed” that saint name in the ceremony. They will also write a report as required by the sacramental ministry process here at St Cletus. I will let you know when the due date is for that report. Time will be given in class and the computer lab. I advised the students to start thinking about a saint that they might feel close to, have a commonality, or admiration for. We learn about a new saint each week but I do have books for any student struggling to find a connection. I also advised them to start thinking about someone they would like to choose as a sponsor. Let us start praying to those saints as we get closer and closer to making our Confirmation.
