Hello–If you have not let me know your intent for the trip – please do so by Wednesday of this week. I only have 6 RSVP’s for “yes” and 5 RSVP’s for “No” so at this point the Springfield trip is not moving forward. We would need at least 20 participants.
Thank you-Mrs Van Wyck
If 25-30 people commit – the cost for 2026 from World Strides TRavel is ~$275 per student with an optional $32 cancellation insurance fee.
We will visit the State Capital, Lincoln Museum, and Lincoln Tomb
It is generally a departure time of 6am and arrive back at St. Cletus around 6:30pm.
Student will need to be able to handle a 12 plus hour day with minimal breaks. It is museum tours that require quiet listening.
Student must be in good standing with social emotional and behavior maturity.
Students will bring a bagged lunch and eat on picnic benches outside.
Students will bring a separate 3pm snack to eat on the bus on the way home.
We will go on a Monday-Thursday in May — it will not be a Friday.
We will travel on a conversion bus, but it will NOT have a restroom. We will stop at a rest stop half way through to take a restroom break.
Cellular phones usage on bus/taking photos at exhibits is not permitted.
We need two chaperones–one male chaperone required.
** It has significantly increased in cost over the last couple of years. We did end up cancelling the trip last year- parents had many reasons including cost, after school commitments in club sports, and costly investment in the Washington trip with similar sites.
Many families opted to do a significantly less expensive carpool trip with friends. The museums are open to the public and most are free.
We are very sympathetic that the cost of this can be prohibitive to St Cletus families. Please think it through and email me at jvanwyck@stcletusparish.com with your decision/thoughts. Please email me back by 11/17. If we commit to the trip we will be collecting the money by Christmas break.
Thank you! Mrs Van Wyck
