October Fun! 10/13/25 – 10/17/25

We had such a wonderful week together! Our trip to the LaGrange Farmers Market was a great success. Students had the opportunity to apply their math skills by figuring out how much and what they could buy with the money they had. It was so exciting to see them making real-world connections! During our visit, students also practiced their Spanish vocabulary by calling out the colors and naming the fruits and vegetables they recognized, all in Spanish of course.

This week we focused on the letter S. Students learned the name of the letter, the sound it makes, and how it sounds when combined with the vowels. Our craft of the week was S de Serpiente (S for serpent), and it was a hit!

We also had a lockdown drill with the LaGrange Police Department. The students did an excellent job following directions and staying calm. I was so proud of them that they earned treats and Cardinal Dollars from Ms. Sonia.

In Religion, we continue learning about a new Saint each week. After Mass on Tuesdays, our class gathers to discuss the message from the homily and reflect on how we can apply it in our daily lives. We are also working hard on learning the “Padre Nuestro” (Our Father) prayer together as a class.

In Math, we are practicing recognizing larger and smaller numbers, comparing greater than and less than, and continuing our work on identifying numbers 1–100.

We’ve also added a Question of the Day at the start of our mornings. This fun routine helps students practice speaking, listening, and thinking critically. It’s quickly becoming a favorite part of our day.

Next week, we will begin learning the letter T, while also reviewing all of the letters and words we have learned so far.

Looking forward, we have our Halloween Party on October 31st. Please remember that in order to volunteer for the party or any school event, you must be VIRTUS compliant. Our Trunk or Treat event will begin at 2:00 p.m. for students.

We are also continuing to build our beautiful Día de los Muertos altar in the classroom, so please send in your 4×6 pictures if you haven’t already.

A friendly reminder that the Parent-Student Handbook needs to be completed by all families. If your student will be absent, please email both attendance@stcletusparish.com and myself.

Mark your calendars for Sip and Shop on November 7th (21 and up).

It’s been a full and rewarding week, and I’m so proud of all the hard work and growth happening in our classroom. I’m looking forward to another wonderful week ahead.

With gratitude,

Ms. Sonia and Mrs. Dorgan
