October Newsletter

Hello parents–I handed out and instructed 8th graders to put in their bags the following:

St Cletus Back to School Raffle Tickets–actual raffle ticket booklet

Pray the Rosary sign up

FSA Taffy Apple Fundraiser

Veteran’s day Mass sign up

Frozen auditions sign-up

Thank you for following up with them so they understand the importance of bringing these items home.

Please return permission slip asap for field trip.  If you want to volunteer–we need to make sure all of your virtuous requirements are up to date.  There are new items for this year!

We just had Chapter 2 test this week for math.  I am going to begin emailing home the homework each night.  It is very important that students keep up with nightly work in order to make silly mistakes on tests.  We are working on taking time to check and re-check tests for silly mistakes.  Keep practicing integer operations.  We are starting solving equations with one step, two step, multi step from last year.

Congrats Ava Robles on student council president induction at mass this week!

I am going to email the problems that students are responsible for. The enthusiasm for doing nightly problems starts to fade — I understand that! The problem with that is that the result is seen in test scores. Working 30 minutes a night and seeing the different problems that could be tested is so important.

Today the students were assigned 3.1 page 137-8 problems 4-48 even

We will work through these on Monday. I won’t collect them but it is very important to be ready with questions from the work the night before. Be engaged with what is happening at class each day.

I am going to email out math homework so parents are aware – I am sorry for all these extra emails but many students are not communicating at home what they need to do. I am hearing that parents feel there is no homework – there is math homework every night. Others are doing what they need to do and their grade is reflecting all the hard work! Thank you!
