Spring has Sprung in Second Grade

Second Grade has been growing like wildflowers! (Luke 12:27) We are so excited that Spring is finally here. During this Lenten Season we are preparing for Easter. In Religion we are practicing for our First Holy Communion and meditating on Jesus our Lord and how much He loves us, and how wants us to share that love with others. We have been going strong in Fundations, mastering our phonics and learning all about vowel teams! In math we have been learning how to regroup (or borrow) when adding and subtracting 3 digit numbers. We have also started a unit on the Solar System, focusing on the order of the planets and what they’re made of, and we are amazed at God’s creation. In Social Studies we have reviewed consistently geography, especially in the U.S.A. and Illinois where we live, but also the role geography plays when we read the Holy Bible. Oh, and we have been reading, reading, reading!
This year is a very special year our second graders will remember! It is the year they have been preparing for since they were baptized into the Catholic faith. This is the first time they will receive the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and fully participate in the Mass. Thank you parents of our second graders at Saint Cletus School for teaching and sharing the Love & Light of Christ in your families.
