We’ve had quite a busy week in DLI!
To kick things off, we reviewed our vocabulary set from last week, now totaling 16 new Spanish words. The students are doing fantastic! Starting the week strong, we introduced new center toys, which have been a big hit with the kids. We also attended mass and spent quality time with our buddies.
On Wednesday and Thursday, we welcomed some visitors from the Archdiocese of Chicago and the University of Notre Dame. You can check out some photos of their visit on our school FACEBOOK page!
Thursday was particularly special, as Dr. Elisa Dralle from the University of Notre Dame read a familiar story to the students, enriching their knowledge further. After her visit, we dove into a “Spooktacular” science experiment: we mixed primary colors (Verde, Rojo, Azul, and Amarillo) to discover new colors, adding a fun twist by using baking soda and vinegar to create a fizzy effect! To wrap up the week, we enjoyed a late recess with our buddies—everyone was thrilled to be together!
Next week promises even more fun as we kick off Red Ribbon Week! I’m so excited for everyone to participate. We’ll also have an updated behavior log with space for comments and initials. We’ll finish our octubre vocabulary and focus on the letter Dd and the number 7.
Red Ribbon Week: Red Ribbon Week kicks off on Monday, October 24!
Next Friday, we’ll end the week with pan de muerto and hot chocolate, celebrating Hispanic and Mexican culture. If anyone would like to contribute monetarily, you’re welcome to, though I’ll be providing these treats. We’ll also be crafting for Día de los Muertos, extending our celebrations and honoring those who are no longer with us. Stay tuned for updates in next week’s newsletter.
Reminders:
- Our Halloween party is Thursday, followed by Trunk or Treat! Check the email for our Halloween guidelines.
- Monday is the final day for any outstanding Virtus training and paperwork.
Can’t wait for Red Ribbon Week and all the fun it will bring! I’m already missing our little ones—Monday can’t come soon enough!
